yourself so well as you probably anticipated and I expected. But this impediment to your enjoyment I trust you will soon be rid of and the golden hours of your stay in civilization (as I know by experience) will pass away all too soon.
We are getting along in this
land as well as can be expected. Affairs in the Regt are about us when I wrote you last. The balance of Co H are now on picket at Seabrook. They went out about a week ago and the Major sent Barker in command of it, this I did not like very well so made an application to to be relieved from the Commissary Dept and succeeded and tomorrow join the Company. Twenty are still at Spanish Mills . those at Seabrook have a very good place good camp and do not have to go on duty -- only every third day. I anticipate a very good time so long as I stay at Seabrook but I doubt whether the Major will let us enjoy it long.
