June 18th

  We did not start to come back from Mount Jackson until abought 3 oclock in the afternoon did not have eny breakfirst or dinner. when we was coming back we stoped and milked our canteens full of milk from some cows by the road side. bought us a loaf of bread from a negro family. then we had some bread and milk.
  We got back to Camp at 9 oclock in the evening. pretty tired.

June 18th

   I was in Camp in the fore noon. at noon I went on Picket guard abought 1 mile from Strasburg on the road to Front Royal.

June 19th

  We was relieved from guard this afternoon at 2 oclock. I came back to camp and layed down and slept the rest of the afternoon

June 20th

  In camp in the forenoon. General Fremont is falling back to Strasburg with his army. The rebel General Jackson is advancing on Front Royal and Fremont is falling back to stop him. We left Strasburg to day and joined the rest of our detachment at Front Royal. 
  I am on guard to night.

June 21st

  On guard to day. was relieved at 6 oclock. went down abought 1/2 a mile and saw The 10th Maine Rigement have a Dress Parade.
