104 cannonading going on all day. over the river toards Martinsburg I guess there has been a battle going on.
October 17th
To day has been a now pleasant day it rained last night but it cleared away before morning and the sun rose clear and beautifull. nothing of eny interest has taken place to day. I am on stable guard to night.
October 18th
Was a very fine day. nothing of eny interest has taken place to day. we are still at Sharpsburg
105 October 19th To day is Sunday and is quite pleasant. we had an Inspection this morning and had one at 4 oclock in the afternoon. an Inspection of Arms.
October 20 It has been very cool to day nothing of eny consequence has taken place. 2 Company of Massachusetts Cavalry has come to General Porters Headquarters to relieve us. Porter is now in Washington but is coming back in a few days. we probably shall then return to our Rigement at Fredrick city Maryland.
