� Brunswick Aug 15th 1862

Dear Col, As the Governor must be much occupied, I address mmt[?] to you in regard to such matters in the 20th Regt. I have had a great many ap-plications for staff appointments, + have taken some pains to look into their merits, and if I have any thing to say about them I would suggest the following, Mr. A. L. Loring [underlined] of Yarmouth for Quartermaster. He makes out a strong case. Mr. Henry I. B. Switte [underlined] of Brunswick Sergeant Major. The Governor will recollect Switte's claims. Thomas D. Chamberlain [underlined] of Bangor
