�April, Thursday, 16. 1863.

This morning at daylight 2 Com-panies of us (Co's H and B. was ordered to report to Gen'l Ston-mon. I dont know what it is fer, some says it is to take prisoners of war: to the rear. we stayed near the Gen'l's Headquarter all day. did not do enything.

Friday, 17.

We were at General Stonmans Headquarters, near Rappahannuck Station. we can not cross the river for several days fer [word the crossed out] water is water is so high. the storm having rise the water 12 or 15 feet.We have to graze our horses for we cant get eny forage.

Saturday, 18.

to day Gen'l Stanman moved his Headquarters bck from Rappohone[?] station. 2 miles. to Bealton Station for the Rebels commenced to shell us this morning. I think that we have got to do Orderly duty for Gen'l, Stonman. for 12 of us are detailed for Orderlies to morrow. Our horses has not had eny grain for 3 day.

April, Sunday, 19. 1863

This morning we went back to our Regt for the Colonel went to Gen Ston-man to get us back to the Regt again the Genl gave his consent so we are with the Regt once more. 24 of our Company had to go back to night 7 miles to get rations and ferage we are going to advance to morrow.

Monday, 20.

We had orders to saddle up our hores ready to start this morning at 1 oclock but did not start till 9. we marched on the road tward Warrenton. I guess that we are going to cross the Rapphannock[?] river at Waterloo or else at Sulpher Springs. we came abought 15 miles to day and then Camped for the night. It rained to day.

Tuesday, 21.

To day we did not march but stayed in Camp. we are abought 1 mile from Warrenton. we went out faraging to day and got some beef cattle he[?] we are out of rations. I don't know when we shall march again. I can not see what th e movement is or What we are trying to do.
