Sir, if the three months which I served with the Regt and the five months I was awaiting trial and sentence was accredited to me I would only have to serve two months instead of ten months, according to the Revised Army Regulations of 1861 Article 18, par. 161. I find these words, viz. In reconing the time of service and the pay and allowances of a Deserter, he is to be considered as again in service when delivered up as a Deserter to the "proper authority, and I think there must be a mistake in my sentence some way I have been a Prisoner now nearly 19 months and my wife's father is dead and I have a little ambition left yet and I should like to be some where doing a little for my wife & child as they are living with her aged mother.
