     This is therefore to authorize Major-General 

Henry Dearborn to make such Certificate & endorse- ment on the back of each Commission thus circum- stanced, as will shew the alteration in the numerical order of the Regiment to which the Officer belongs, and will recognize his authority over the Company to which he was originally commissioned.

General Dearborn was authorized to make a Certificate for the purpose therein expressed, on the Commission of any Captain or Subaltern, in case the Regiment or Brigade to which such Captain or Subaltern actually belongs, has been altered in its numerical order or standing, since such Commission was issued -- and it appearing
