[convention to qualify Governor]

Mr Speaker,

The Senate propose a convention fo both branches of the Legislature, in the chamber of the House of Representatives at 12 o clock this day for the purpose of qualifying the Governor elect; and request the concurrence of the House of Representatives - The House concurred & the Clerk was ordered to acquaint the Senate therewith.

[Governor qualified]

Agreeably to assignment at 12 o clock the two Houses met in convention in the Representatives Chamber, when Albion K Parris Esq the Governor elect attended by the Council, the Sheriff of Cumberland and the Secretary and Treasurer of State came in and took and subscribed the oaths prescribed by the Constitution to qualify him for discharging the duties of the office of Governor of the State of Maine - whereupon proclamation was made by Ashur Ware Esq secretary of State that Albion K Parrris Esq is duly elected Governor of the State of Maine and duly qualified to exercise all the functions of that office an all persons in the exercise of public trusts, whether in the civil or military, and all the good people in the state are requested to give to his public acts and commands all due respect accordingly.
