[page 632] He was in a bed such filled with straw. He had crawled into this sack of straw, entirely naked. I asked him what the matter was and he said he was freezing to death. The first remark he made was: "I am dying." I said " I guess not Capt." He says, "I am freezing to death." I went to the next room and unlocked the door- there was no one in that room- and took some blankets, one or two, and threw them in and he took them. It was dark out before I did this I went up to my room and got my lantern and came down to the room and went in. He came out of the straw and was shivering very badly. Then I got a blanket or two, wrapped round him and he crept back into beg again, I knew he was a patient that tore considerably, tore ^most all you could give him. I thought I would come down early in the morning and see if he had torn that blanket. I went down and he had torn it into strips perhaps 3 inches in width. And he had wrapped those strips all round his legs as you would a rope
