                    Sir Yours of the 17th[superscript]

is received. After Capt Devereux's Company was full he came to me and requested to have those who did not belong in town, providence for. As an officer of the town, I considered it my duty to do so and the only place I could get them taken care o of was at Mr. Lennans tavern For those who belonged in this town their has been no charge made with the exception of[insert] a breakfast the morning they started for Bangor I did not draw the order for the bill until after Capt Devereux had examined it and considered it reasonable

                             Respectfully yours
                                  J. T. Hatch
