Leaving this city in the early train on Monday Morning next, you will proceed to Boston, and there make arrangements for dining in that city on Wednesday next, the second Regiment of Maine Volunteers, and also for transporting said Regiment on the afternoon and evening of the same day from Boston to New York. You will make the best bargain you can with one of the Sound routes. After you have made the Contract, you will telegraph me what route and upon what terms you have made the Contract and at what time the train will leave. Tuesday Evening, you will proceed to New York and there arrange for the reception of our troops, by the Authorities of the United States. You will confer with Linneus Draper Esq. Chairman of the Defense Committee, and also with Col Wilder P. Walker in reference to re-
