Monday January 28, 1822 [Counsellor Vose to be qualified] A letter was received from Thomas Vose Esquire a Counsellor elect signifying his acceptance of the that office - Read and sent down. Ordered that a message go to the House of Representatives proposing a convention of both branches of the Legislature this day at eleven o’clock for the purpose of qualifying Thomas Vose esquire the remaining counselor elect who had appeared for that purpose: A message was received from the House - that they are concurred in the foregoing proposition.

[Resolves] The following Resolves were read and passed to be engrossed to wit - Resolve confirming the doings of the town of Phillips - Resolve relating to the punishment of the convicts - sent down for concurrence - also Resolve fixing the compensation of the members of the Legislature as reported by the committee with amendments - sent down for concurrence. Resolve on the petition of Thomas Clark read - and tomorrow at ten o’clock assigned for a second reading and committed to the Committee on bills in the second reading Resolve in favor of Christopher Atkinson rejected on the second reading. - [Bills] The following bills were read a second time and passed to be engrossed - viz. Bill to incorporate the Hancock Agricultural Society - Sent down for concurrence - Resolve on petition of John Chancy was read and Passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the House Bill to enable persons associated together to protect themselves from fire, to become bodies politic - read again & ordered to lie on the table
