Bangor Aug.

Gov. Washburn. Sir

My son Olden[?] A. Keene enlisted in the V. P. service three months ago, he is not yet eighteen years of age, and it was with great hesitancy that I consented to his earnest appeal to go and fight for the good of the people. He is in the 2d Maine Regiment Co. 6. I gave him a writ[?] thinking it was only for three months as in fact it was but the time has been changed since. Now this boy is my only dependence I have taken [?] several years but the war has called them away, and I must have help. My object in writing is to get an honorable discharge for my son from the service.
