Dear sir

I have resigned my position as Col. of the 2nd Rgt of Me. Vol. and my resignation has been accepted. My p[?] troubles [?] absolutely necessary for me to return home and devote my time to my private business which is in a very sad condition. Justice to those at home dependent on me, has in a just[?] measure induced me to take this step. Since[?] [?] at your hands my commission as Col. of the 2nd Rgt.
