Hon Lot M Morrill

Governor &c

My Dear Sir

As I suppose it will be found necessary to appoint a new Indian Agent for the[?] Oldtown [Old Town] Indians, I would tak [take] the liberty of reccommending [recommending] Frederick [Frederic] H. Dillingham Esq of this city, as a suitable person to receive the appointment.

He[?] [?], resided[?] at Old Town & is acquainted with the Indians, he[?] has always maintained an excited[?] character, & I have no doubt if appointed would discharge the[?] duties of the office acceptably, & to the general satisfaction of the public

Respectfully yr. &c

E. L.[?] [?]
