Gen. Scott desires me to recruit my Rgt to one thousand men or upwards. I need about three hundred more men. I was informed at the Department today that they would send a man to Bangor & muster that number into the service as soon as they were enlisted. My friends inform me, that number can be raised for this regt in a very few days if you will authorize it which I have no doubt you will do.
Mr. Sam’l W. Hoskins of Old Town would like to assist in raising the men, & he would take them on to join the Reg’t.
