E. L. Appleton. Dr. A. D. Palmer and myself respectively acting as Sergeant Major Hospital Steward & Qr Master Sergeant[?] have received no bounty while those acting in the same capacities in other regiments have done so when the Regiment received their bounty at[?] Bangor on May 14th Gen[?] Hersey[?] informed us that we were not enlisted men & therefore Entitled to no bounty, By the United States Officers we are regarded[?] as holden for three[?] years[?] from the fact that we took the oath at Millets[?] Point on May 28.
