Head Quarters 2nd Rgt Me. Vol Camp Seward, Washington June 26/61

Dear Sir

Please find enclosed request of Adjutant Gen. to have my regiment filled up to the maximum. I think the men can be raised very readily in Bangor & vicinity. The Department desires that the men be uniformed by the State and that they be placed under drill officers as soon as enlisted. I shall need about three hundred fifty good men with as many musicians as possible.

They will not need frock coats but a dark blue blouse. I have the promise of blouses for the whole regiment in a few days. Lieut. Palmer would be a good officer to superintend the drilling of the men & I would like very much for Mr. S.B. Hoskins to assist in enlisting the men. Hoping to hear from you soon, I remain

Very truly Your obt srvt
