I think there will be no difficulty in enlisting the men in Bangor. They will not need the frock[?] coat at present but the dark blue blouse instead, but they must be armed & equipped.
Will Mr Ricker be on soon with the horses & baggage wagons?[?] it is very desirable we should have these soon – these[?] we[?] can move with our own means. I saw the report[?] of the arrival of a large quantity of rifles in New York. I supposed[?] it was correct. We want them very much indeed. We have made the arrangements for raising the money to pay them extra for their services. We are very anxious to get them here as soon as possible, for I assure you its[?] a[?] dry business running a regiment without music.
