Head Quarters 2d Maine Regt

Falls Church July[?] 16th 1861

Dear Sir

We leave[?] this afternoon for Fairfax – we are attached to the Division[?] under[?] Gen.[?] Tyer of Conn. The boys[?] feel well and are anxious to be on the move, & I hope &[?] trust they will give a good account of themselves[?]

The last knapsacks[?] sent were very satisfactory to the men. The last ones[?] [?] were not properly examined a great[?] many f them entirely unfit for duty, &[?] will have to be sent[?] back immediately.

Everything else satisfactory

Yours in trust[?]

[?] [?] Jameson

Hon. I.[?] Washburn Jr
