I Putnam Rolf do testify & say that I delivered the seed potatoes to the Indians for Mr. Seth W. Smith in the spring of 1857. The potatoes were in good order & condition when they were delivered by me to the Indians. They were a good quality of potatoes & gave general satisfaction to the Indians. I heard no complaint from them on account of the potatoes.

Oats were very scarce in the spring of 1857 at Lewis Island. I do not know of any person who had oats for sale except Mr. James Landess[?] at that time. There were none for sale in Princeton except those brought by Landess, I think.

Putnam, Rolfe[?]

Washington [?] June 17th 1857 Personally appeared Putnam Rolf & made oath to the truth of the above affidavit by him subscriber. Before Me
