Readfield in the County of Kennebec and of Atkinson in the County of Penobscot are rejected because the Returns were not made within the time prescribed by the Constitution No Returns of votes in the town of Washington in the County of Lincoln, Dearborn in the County of Kennebec, Berlin in the County of Oxford Plantation No 6 in 9th Range and Sunkhase plantation in the County of Penobscot, plantation No 13 and plantation No 14 in the County of Washington

The Committee have also had under consideration the communication from Mark Sheppard who was elected a Senator for the County of Hancock the current political year resigning his seat in the Senate, and report that said Sheppard's seat at this board is vacated by resignation. The consequence of which is, that there is in the County of Hancock occasioned by the non election by the people, and a vacancy of a Senator occasioned by the resignation of Mark Sheppard the Senator elect, and the Committee are of opinion, and report that the deficiency in the County of Hancock occasioned by the non election of the people is first to be filled from the two persons having the highest number of votes among the persons voted for and not elected. Afternoon. A Message was received from the House of Representatives, by Mr. Child their Clerk informing the Senate that the House had, on their part, provided for the appointment of a Joint standing Committee to be called the " Committee on the Judiciary to whom shall be referred all subjects relative to the Judiciary and all motions, applications
