Petition of James Russell & al to be incorporated by name of Waterford Canal Company - - of Isaac Sturdivant & al for leave to erect a Bridge across Presumpscot River at Machias Point were read and referred to the committee bon Turnpikes, Bridges and Canals. Sent up for concurrence.

Ordered that the committee won Militia & Military affairs be instructed to enquire into the expediency of so far amending the 17th Section of the Militia of this State, that in all cases where any Division of the Militia is so divided as to reduce a Regiment of Cavalry on Artillery to three Companies that they shall still composed one Regiment, and the several officers of the Regiment as it existed previously to such division shall retain their respective commands - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of Daniel Steward Junior & als for an amendment of the Constitution of Maine so that Sheriffs & Clerks of Courts may be elected by the Inhabitants of the County in which they are to Officiate - was read & referred to the committee on New trials. Sent up for concurrence.
