[1823 February 11th]

Mr. Bond then presented the following Resolution, which was read by the Secretary and passed unanimously, viz.

[Vote of thanks to Hon. Daniel Rose President]

"Resolved that the thanks of the Senate be presented to Hon. Daniel Rose for the ability, impartiality and fidelity with which he has presided over their deliberations; and for the uniform civility, which he has exercised towards the members of this Board during the present session; And that we avail ourselves of this occasion to express our high respect for his public services, and our Sincere wishes for his future usefulness and happiness." - To which the President replied as follows.

[Reply of Hon: Daniel Rose]

"Gentlemen of the Senate, In the honorable station by you assigned me, it has been my endeavor by a dilligent [diligent] and impartial exercise of the duties devolved on me to obtain your approbation. - The Resolution you have now passed convinces me that the defects which have been observed in the performance of my duty, have by you been deemed what they really were, unintentional errors. -

While with me recollection remains, I shall remember with pleasure the time spent at this Board during the present session. - For the honor done me by your approval of my conduct while presiding over your deliberations, permit me, Gentlemen, to express my unfeined thanks to each and every member of this Board. - Be assured, Gentlemen, that my best wishes attend you. - May your usefulness as public men be long
