228 (see page 139) Two the Senate, and House of Representatives: Previous to the recent execution at Castine, upon the application of the Sheriff of the County of Hancock, a military company was ordered out, by the Major General oof the third Division to act as a Guard on that occasion. The Roll of those who performed the duty has been transmitted to me and is herewith laid before the Legislature. From inquiry into the case, I am fully satisfied, that the services, of this Company were necessary, and would therefore, suggest the propriety of making provision for their payment.
