Gentlemen of the Senate, - The candid and friendly approbation of my services in discharging the duties of the Chain, expressed by the enlightened and intelligent members of the Board, exists in my bosom the warmest emotions of gratitude. Conscious that I have uniformly directed my efforts to an prompt, impartial, and faithful discharge of the duties of my station, this expression of your regard merits my sincere thanks, and the cordial aid & support which you have at all times extended to me in the performance of these duties, will be remembered with satisfaction and pleasure. In tendering to you my respectful acknowledgements for your confidence and supports permit me to congratulate you upon the courtesy, urbanely and decorum [?] that has characterize your deportment towards each other at this Board and which has not in any instance been interrupted by the diversity of opinion or sentiment on the many important subjects of deliberation that have come before us during this present session of the Legislature - a session distinguished by the numerous propositions for amending or altering the public laws of the State, and the number of the subjects of a public, private or local nature, that have been presented for deliberation, many of them essentially affecting not only the rights and privileges of individuals, and large portions of the community, but some of them of vital importants the welfare of the State, all of which have been maturely considered, and after elaborate debated before they were finally acted upon,
