Gov Morrill

Dr Sir

Learning that their is to be a vacancy soon in the Indian Agency of the Penobscot Tribe of Indians. I write you at this time to say that I hope you will consider favorably the claims and superior fitness for the place of F. H. Dillingham Esq of Bangor

Being one of the committee [?] Indians affairs the past winter, I have learned something of the manner in which their affairs have been managed heretofor, I saw the necessity of having an honest man in the place, my friend Dillingham being such a man, I hope you will see fit to give him the appointment,

And much oblige

your Obt Servt
