Ordered, that the Clerk of this House, notify the Selectmen of the town of Bucksport, that the seat of Samuel M Pond their member of the House is vacated by his election to and acceptance of a seat in the Senate of this State, to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of Mark Sheppard Esquire requesting them to cause the seat thus vacated forthwith to be filled – read & passed.

Mr Fessenden was appointed Chairman of the committee on Elections, in room of Mr Pond whose seat has been vacated.

An order came from the Senate appointing on their part the following joint standing committees – The House voted to join the same as follows to wit –

On Literature and Literary Institutions.
