Saturday, February 23rd, 1828

Report on Order of July 22nd Mr. Dennett from the Joint Select Committee appointed by order of January 22nd, directing them to inquire whether the Laws relating to the election of State Officers by the People in pursuance of the Constitution need any alteration or amendment, also to inquire what alterations or amendments the public interests require in the Laws relating to organization of Plantations, reported that the Committee had not been able to agree upon the principle of any such amendments, and ask to be discharged from the further consideration of those subjects. Read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence. concurred.

[left] Resolve in favor of Erastus Foote Resolve in favor of Erastus Foote was postponed indefinitely in concurrence with the House.

[left] Resolve - apt. of Land Agent Resolve respecting the appointment of a Land Agent came from the House amended by changing the title to "Bill additional to an Act to promote the sale and settlement of public Lands", and inserting the usual enacting clause, the Senate having reconsidered their former vote adopted the amendment proposed and having twice read passed this Bill to be engrossed in concurrence.

Bill - Ken. Andros. Canal assoc. " Tax Bill additional to an Act to establish the Kennebec and Androscoggin Canal Association and Bill to apportion and assess upon the Inhabitants of this State a tax of $49,988.00 came up amended for concurrence and the Senate concurred.
