An order came from the Senate for concurrence, directing the Secretary of State to notify the Governor that Elias Thomas has been duly elected Treasurer of this State, signified his acceptance, and given bond to the State with sureties to the satisfaction of the Legislature – and the House concurred.
Bill – in addition to an act to establish the Cony Female Academy, reported by the joint committee to whom the subject was referred, was read 1st & 2d time & tomorrow at 10 o clock assigned for a 3d reading.
Report of the committee on the order of 11th inst. To enquire into the expediency of providing that proceedings against towns for deficiency in Highways be by complaint or petition and not by indictment, that such provision is at this time not expedient, came from the Senate accepted for concurrence i- and the House concurred.
Bill additional to the Act regulating the taking fish in Machias – was read a 1st & 2d time & tomorrow at 10 o clock assigned for a 3d reading.
Resolve in favor of the town of Maxfield, which passed this House 24th inst. Came from the Senate in a new draft for concurrence and the House concurred.
Bill to incorporate the town of Howland, was read a 1st & 2nd time and tomorrow at 10 o clock assigned for a 3d reading.
Bill to incorporate the Quamphegan Manufacturing Company was read 1st & 2d time & tomorrow at 10 o’clock assigned for a 3d reading.
