67 [1824] Senate January 19th 1824
[Senator's Qualified] Joel Miller Esq. of St. George having been elected to supply one of the vacancies at the Senate Boar from the County of Lincoln, and having been duly notified by the Secretary of State, came in, and was conducted by Mr. Wheeler to the Governor and Council, where he was duly qualified, and afterwards took his seat at the Board.
John Read Esq. of Strong, having been duly elected to supply the vacancy at the Senate Board from the County of Somerset, and having been duly notified thereof by the Secretary of State, came in and was conducted by Mr. Chandler to the Governor and Council, where he was duly qualified, and afterwards took his seat at the Board.
[Petition referred] Petition of George Ulmer to be allowed further time for redemption of property attached by the State, was read and referred to the Committee on New Trials. Sent down for concurrence and came up concurred.
[Committee on Grants to towns &c.] Order of the House that the Committee on Literature and Literary Institutions, be instructed to enquire into the expediency of granting public lands to towns which have not already received such grants for the benefit of Schools, came up for concurrence, was read and concurred.
[Communication from Joseph Lock Esq.] A Communication from Joseph Locke Esq. signifying his acceptance of the office of Counsellor, was received, read and sent down.
