Petition of S U Ilsley and 63 other ladies of the State of Maine praying the legislature would request our representatives in congress to use their utmost influence to have a resolve which was passed at the late session of congress, by the house of representatives declaring: “That no petition, resolution, memorial or other paper praying the abolition of slavery in the district of Columbia, or any State or teritory [territory] in the United States in which it now exists shall be received by this House or entertained any other way” rescinded And also that they may be heard before a committee, by counsel
