Major General Greens Order

His Excellency the Commander in Chief going to be absent from the Army for a few Days; the Knowledge of which may possibly reach the Enemy, and Encourage them to make some Movements, in Consequence thereof

The General desires the officers of all Ranks, to be in perfect Readiness, to meet Them on the Shortest notice, and Recommends to the Out Guards, to be very Vigilant and Attentive, and the patroles [patrols] active and Watchful

Division Orders Septr. 17th 1780

Some Disputes having arisen with respect to the manner in which the Camp Guards are to get the Countersign & to Receive the Captains who Visit them. The General Commanding the Divisions direct that in future the officer of each guard is to send a sarjeant [sargent] from the guard at orderly time to the Major of Brigade
