State of Maine

To all Persons to whom these Presents shall come,

Greeting:

Whereas, before our Supreme Judicial Court, begun and holden at Augusta, within our County of Kennebec, and for our Counties of Kennebec and Somerset, on the second Tuesday of September, in the year of our Lord, one thousand, eight hundred and twenty, Lewis Boyinton, of Waterville, in our said County of Kennebec, was convicted of the crime of Forgery; and thereupon, by our said Court, sentenced to be punished by solitary imprisonment for the term of twelve days; and afterwards confined to hard labor for the term of two years, in the common Gaol, situated in Norridgewock, in the county of Somerset; a part of which sentence remains unexecuted: And he the said Lewis Boyinton, has supplicated us for mercy:

Now Know Ye, That, upon full consideration of the premises, We do hereby remit to him the said Lewis Boyinton, all that part of the punishment aforesaid that remains unexecuted; and grant to him the said Lewis Boyinton, a full and free Pardon of the crime aforesaid: Of which, all our Judges, Justices, Magistrates and Officers of every denomination are to take notice:

Witness Benjamin Ames, Speaker of our House of Representatives, exercising the office of Governor, with the advice and consent of our Council, and our Seal hereunto affixed, this sixth day of December, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty one; and in the forty sixth year of the Independence of the United States of America.
