To all persons to whom these Presents shall come,

Greeting:

Whereas, before the Justices of our Supreme Judicial Court, held at Wiscasset, within and for the County of Lincoln, on the third tuesday of May, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty two: John Chadwick, late resident of Bath, in our said County of Lincoln, Mariner, was convicted of the crime of stealing and taking by force and violence from the person of James Woodworth a silver watch, of the value of ten dollars; And thereupon, by our said Court, was sentenced to suffer solitary imprisonment, in the Gaol in our said County, for thirty days, and to be confined afterwards to hard labor in said Gaol for two years; part of which sentence remains to be executed; And he the said John Chadwick, has humbly supplicated Us for mercy:

Now, Know Ye, That, upon full consideration of the premises, We do hereby remit to him the said John Chadwick, that part of the punishment aforesaid which remains to be executed; and grant to him the said John Chadwick, a full and free Pardon of the crime aforesaid; of which all our Judges, Justices, Magistrates and officers of every denomination are to take notice.

Parris, our Governor, with the advice and consent of our Council, and our Seal hereunto affixed, at Portland, the seventh day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three; and of the Independence of the United States of America the forty seventh.
