A message was received from the Senate by Mr. Kavanaugh their Secretary informing the House that the Senate have voted to concur in the proposition of the House for a convention at 11 o'clock this day for the purpose of choosing seven Councillors to advise the Governor in the Executive department of Government the current political year & also a Secretary & Treasurer of State.
On motion of Mr. Farnsworth of Dennysville, Ordered, That the Committee on the Militia & military affairs be instructed to inquire into the expediency of amending the Militia Law, so as to make it the duty of the Commanding officer of Independent Companies, in case of enlistments, to give notice thereof, to the commanding officers of the standing companies, within whose limits, such enlistments shall have been made - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.
A communication was received from Edward Russell Secretary of State, transmitting in obedience to the order of yesterday, copies of the returns of Clerks of the Judicial Courts, & Registers of Deeds made to his office pursuant to the Resolves of March 5 1829 and copies of the returns made by County Treasurers on Sheriffs fees &c - which with the accompanying documents was, on motion, referred to Messrs. Pond of Bucksport, Smith of Nobleboro & Shapleigh of Saco with such as the Senate may join. - Sent up for concurrence.
