Governor of the State of Maine,

To all to whom these Presents may come,

Greeting:

Know Ye, That William Burleigh of South Berwick, in the County of York, Esquire, on the thirteenth day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four, was chosen by the People of this State, legally qualified therefor, a Representative, to represent them in the Congress of the United States of America, for the term, by the Constitution of said United States expressed, commencing with the fourth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and twenty five, at the times and places and in the manner of holding elections, prescribed by our Legislature, agreeably to the powers therein vested by the Constitution aforesaid.

In testimony whereof, I have caused the seal of the State to be hereunto affixed. Given under my hand, at Portland, the twenty third day of November, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty four; and in the forty ninth year of the Independence of the United States of America.
