To all to whom these presents may come,

Be it Known, that Isaac Lane of Hollis, in our County of York, James C. Churchill, of Portland, in our County of Cumberland, Joseph Sewall of Bath, in our County of Lincoln, Rowland H. Bridgham of Sullivan, in our County of Hancock, Samuel Moore of Steuben, in our County of Washington, Nathan Cutler of Farmington, in our County of Kennebec, Silas Barnard of Dixfield, in our County of Oxford, Ellis Burgess of Fairfield, in our County of Somerset, Joseph Kelsey of Guilford, in our County of Penobscot and Ephraim Fletcher of Lincolnville, in our County of Waldo, Esquires, were, on the fifth day of November current, chosen in conformity with the Constitution of the United States, and a Resolve of the Legislature of this State, passed the sixth day of March eighteen hundred and thirty two, electors of President and Vice President of the United States of America, for the State of Maine; said Electors not being Senators or Representative in Congress and not to our knowledge holding any office of trust and profit under the United States; and that therefor, they are duly authorized to give in their votes at Augusta, on Wednesday the fifth day of December next, for one person to be President, and for one other person to be Vice President of the United States for the term of four years, commencing on the fourth day of March next: and if, on their assembling at said Augusta for the purpose aforesaid, in compliance with the requirements of said Resolve, it shall appear that, in consequence of the death or absence of any of the Electors, or that from any cause, there shall be a deficiency in the number to which this State is entitled, they are authorized immediately to supply said deficiency by a majority of the votes of Electors foresaid[?]; and the person so elected shall have the same authority in giving in their votes for President and Vice President as the Electors before mentioned.

Given under the Seal of the State, at Augusta, this twenty third day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two, and in the fifty seventh year of the Independence of the United States of America.
