82. Petition of Jonathan Cleaves & als for a Lottery to aid in clearing Saco River, was referred in concurrence with the Senate to the select committee on the subject of Lotteries.

Bill - additional respecting the Herring Fishery, taken from the last years files of the Senate, came from the Senate referred to the committee on Interior Fisheries for concurrence and the House concurred.

A communication was received from the Secretary of State transmitting the Estimates for County taxes received from the Clerks of the several Counties - and with the accompanying documents were referred to the committee on County Estimates.

Ordered that Messrs Estes of Pownal, Springer of Franklin and Rowell of Jefferson, be a committee with such as the Senate may join to take into consideration the expediency of making an extra quality of Beef. read & passed. Sent up for concurrence

Ordered that the joint standing committee on the Judiciary be directed to inquire what alterations are necessary if any in the time or manner of holding the Courts of Common Pleas in the several Counties in this State with leave to report &c - Sent up for concurrence.

Ordered that Messrs Davis of Augusta, Thoms of Mt Desert & Heald of Lovel with such as the Senate may join be a committee to take into consideration the general powers & duties of the Court of Sessions, & what alterations are necessary to be made therein, with leave to report &c - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of the Selectmen of Gray that the line between that town & Windham may be defined, was read & referred to (crossed out the) Messrs Humphrey of Gray, Webb of Windham and Estes of Pownal.
