An order came from the Senate for concurrence, directing the committee on the Judiciary to inquire into the expediency of providing by law that all bridges, or a certain part of the Bridge on County roads shall be erected at the expence [expense] of the County & not at the expence of the several towns in which such bridges may be located - also to inquire into the expediency of providing by law that all County roads shall be built at the expense of the County - and the House refused to concur.
Bill - additional to an act authorizing the town of Portland to assess a tax on the owners of dogs, was read 1st & 2nd time & tomorrow at ten oclock assigned for a third reading.
On motion of Mr Burnham of Orland, Ordered that Messrs Burnham of Orland, Wines of Deer Isle & Hill of Goldsboro, be a committee to take into consideration the expediency of altering the valuation of seventeen townships in Hancock County called by the State valuation committee, "the residue of Binghams Purchase" so as to make the valuation equal to other lands of the same quality - read & passed.
Bill - an additional Act to exempt certain goods & chattels from attachment & from distress for taxes, was read 1st & 2d time amended, & tomorrow at ten oclock assigned for a 3d reading.
