Afternoon Met according to adjournment.

The House resumed the consideration of the Resolve in favor of the Trustees and overseers of Bowdoin College - The question in order is on an indefinite postponement and being taken by yeas & nays was decided in the affirmative as follows yeas 95 nays 37 [see appendix page 279] Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of Joseph Thompson & others & report thereon taken from the last years files of the Senate, came from the Senate referred to the committee on incorporation of towns for concurrence and the house concurred.


Reports on the petitions of David Hayes & als inh. of Westbrook- -of Thomas Bartlett & als - - of Samuel Pierson & others granting leave to withdraw, came from the Senate accepted for concurrence and the House concurred.

Report on the petition of Benjamin Prescott & others, ordering notice, came from the Senate accepted for concurrence and the House concurred.

Resolve in favor of certain Academies in the County of York, was called up read a second time & indefinitely postponed.

Bill additional to an act to incorporate the Portland State Company, was read 1st & 2nd time & tomorrow at ten oclock assigned for a 3rd reading.

Petition of Edward Bourne & als & report thereon, came from the Senate referred to the committee on Literature ect for concurrence - and the House so far receded from their former vote as to concur with the Senate in their reference.
