150 whole on the Bill to regulate Banks and Banking. Mr White of Monmouth in the chair - and after remaining in session for some time the Committee rose and were directed to make a report.

Report of the Committee to whom was referred an order of the 25th of January relative to an amendment of the law in regard to the Education of Youth &c - that legislation on the subject - also

Report of the same Committee on the Order of the 27th January in relation to a law respecting the discontinuance of Highways &c - that legislation on that subject is inexpedient - severally came from the Senate accepted for concurrence - and the House concurred. The Order of yesterday authorizing the Valuation Committee to employ none assistants to assist them in forming and adjusting a general valuation &c came from the Senate for concurrence, amended by striking out at A the word "nine" and insert in line thereof the word "ten" and by striking out at B, the words "excepting Washington " - and the House concurred. A Message was received from the Senate informing the House that they had on their part made choice of Brigadier Gen. James Burbank to be Major General of the sixth Division of the Militia of this State - and requesting the concurrence of t he House. On motion by Mr. Spring of Hiram, Ordered that Monday next at 11 o'clock in the forenoon be the time assigned for the choice of a Major General of the sixth Division of the Militia of Maine on the part of the House.
