Thursday February 22nd 1827

Met according to adjournment

Bill – changing the names of certain persons, reported by the committee on change of names, was read a 1st & 2nd time & tomorrow at 10 o clock assigned for a 3d reading.

Bill – establishing the salaries of the Judge & Register of Probate for the County of Waldo, was taken up – The House insist upon their vote of 20th inst passing the same to be engrossed as amended, propose a conference, & appoint as conferees on their part Messrs Evans of Gardiner, Adams of Portland & Bourne of Kennebunk.

Resolve providing for the establishment of Libraries, and the promotion of education, reported with amendments which were adopted, was read a second time & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.

Resolve confirming the sale of land by James Irish to Joshua Carpenter, was read once & tomorrow at 10 o clock assigned for a second reading.

Bill – making further provision respecting the punishment of convicts, was read a 1st & 2nd time & tomorrow at 1/2 past two o clock assigned for a 3d reading.

Resolve for the payment of contingent expenses, was read a second time & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.

Resolve for the purchase of Stationary, was read a second time & passed to be engrossed with the Senate.
