Bill an additional act respecting Highways was read a third time & passed to be engrossed as in new draft. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill fixing the place of the permanent seat of Government and prescribing where the Legislature shall hold its sessions was taken up - Mr Evans motion for a reference of the subject to the next Legislature made this forenoon was decided in the negative as follows Yeas 46 Nays 72 [ see appendix page 261.] The question of giving the Bill a second reading was then taken be yeas & nays and decided in the affirmative as follows Yeas 81 Nays 38 [ see appendix page 264]. The Bill was then read a third time & passed to be engrossed.. Sent up for concurrence.

The committee on engrossed Bills reported as duly engrossed Bill additional to an act to establish the Penobscot Boom Corporation - changing the names of certain persons. Which were severally passed to be enacted. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill making further provisions respecting the punishment of Convicts, was read a 3rd time & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.

Resolve in favor of James Irish, was read once & this afternoon at seven oclock assigned for a second reading.

Mr Whittemore of Hebron has leave of absence after tomorrow, during the remainder of the session. Adjourned until 7 oclock this evening
