On motion of Mr. Bryant of Fairfield,
Ordered, That the committee on the Judiciary be requested to consider the expediency of providing by law that persons who are disabled by age, sickness, lameness or other infirmity shall be exempted from the payment of a poll Tax. read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.
The House reconsidered their vote of 14th instant accepting the report of the Committee on the petition of John Gilmore & others granting leave to withdraw, and on motion referred the subject to the next Legislature.
The committee on engrossed Bills reported as duly engrossed Bill to incorporate Cherryfield Academy which was passed to be enacted. Sent up for concurrence.
Bill additional to the several Acts now in force securing to owners their property in Logs, masts, spars & other timber was called up and assigned for a 3d reading at 10 o'clock tomorrow.
Bill to authorize the town of Falmouth to erect a Toll Bridge across the Presumpscot River, was amended as on sheet annexed marked G, and then referred to the committee who reported the same. Sent up for concurrence.
Bill - to incorporate the Alfred Academy, was again taken up & amended by striking out at SS the word "three" and inserting in lieu thereof the word "two" and the House refused the Bill a passage to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.
