196 Resolve relating to fortifying the Penobscot River, was reported in a new draft which the House refused to adopt read the original Resolve, when Mr. Adams of Portland moved an amendment & then the subject was laid upon the table.
Mr. Smith moved a reconsideration of the vote of yesterday accepting the Report on sundry petitions respecting the inspection of Lime, and the House assigned Monday next at 10 o'clock to consider the motion.
The House assigned 11 o'clock on Monday to consider the motion made by Mr. Swan of Portland for a reconsideration of the vote refusing a passage to the Resolve in favor of Limerick Academy.
An order came from the Senate for concurrence directing the Committee on the Judiciary to inquire into the expediency of so amending the Law relating to the assessment and collection of taxes that Real Estate of resident Proprietors may be sold by Collectors within the towns & plantations for the payment of taxes legally assessed therein. - and the House concurred.
Ordered, That when the House adjourns it be until half past nine o'clock on Monday morning next.
