[Report respecting the purchase of College & other lands] Mr. Parsons from the Com. on State Lands on order of February 16th directing them to inquire into the expediency of purchasing the lands belong to Bowdoin College and other Literary Institutions of this State reported that it is not expedient for the State to purchase said lands, Read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.
[Petitions referred] Petition of Nathan Winslow for leave to purchase an Island of the Penobscot Indians and " of Joseph Southwick for an allowance for a Bill of costs incurred in defending a groundless action brought against him by the late Land Agent in the name of the State were severally referred in concurrence to the Com. on State Lands
Petition of Joseph Greeley and others for a canal from Norridgewock to Augusta was referred in concurrence to the Committee on Canals &c.
[Report on pet. of Nath. Malbone] Report on petition of Nathaniel Malborne were in indefinitely postponed in concurrence.
[Bill to incorporate Kennebec Leather Manufactory] Mr. Holbrook from the committee in Manufactory on the petition of Daniel Nutting and others reported Bill to incorporate the Kennebec Leather Manufactory Read once and tomorrow 10 assigned for a 2nd Reading;
[Bill respecting Highways] Bill for the further improvement and preservation of highways was read once and tomorrow 10 assigned for a 2nd Reading.
[Resolve for the purchase of field pieces for Artillery] Mr. Hilton from the Committee on Militia &c on order of February 19th reported Resolves making appropriation for the purchase of two field pieces for the use of the Artillery. Read once and tomorrow 10 assigned for a 2nd Reading.
