Bangor Augt 1st 1862 Hon. I. Washburn Jr.

Dear Sir

Capt. Garnsey and Maj. H Strickland think there will be fifteen or twenty recruits ready for 2nd Maine next Monday - They are anxious I should take charge of them and many of the men desire to accompany me- If you wish me thus to take charge of them, please let me know by telegraph during the day tomorrow, or otherwise I do not intend to go by way of Augusta. Maj Strickland with the men will leave for Augusta Monday morning and I shall accompany him if you desire it as above stated, and wait your pleasure there. My leave of absence will not expire until 11th Sept. but I am anxious to rejoin the regiment soon as assistant, though I am yet feeble and unable to do much duty.

Very Truly Your Obt servant

S.B. Morison
