193 The Committee on engrossed Bills reported as duly engrossed Bill to revoke the Charter of the Cumberland Insurance Company __ relative to the appointment of Clerks of Judicial Courts __ to incorporate the Calais railway Company __ to alter the time of holding a meeting of the county Commissioners in Penobscot County __ in addition to the Several Acts to regulate the jurisdiction and proceedings of Courts of Probate, which were severally passed to be enacted sent up.

Bill additional to alter the law establishing Bowdoin College, was read once and recommitted to the Committee on the Judiciary, sent up for concurrence.

Resolve in favor of the towns of Orland and Hancock, was read a second time as taken into a new draft and recommitted to the Committee on Judiciary sent up for concurrence.

On motion of Mr Gordon Ordered, that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to enquire into the expediency of amending the law so that all real estate shall be holden for its own tax whether assessed on its owner or occupant and in all cases, where taxes cannot now be collected, with leave to report by bill or otherwise, sent up for concurrence.
