296 Mr. Kent of Bangor laid upon the Clerk's desk the following order which being read by the Clker was unanimously passed. Ordered, that the thanks of the House be presented to Benjamin White, Esquire, Speaker, for the prompt, impartial and satisfactory manner in which he has discharged the duties of the chair during the present session. The Speaker addressed the House as follows, Gentlemen of the House of Representatives, Next to the approval of Heaven and my own conscience do I prize this favorable expression of your approbation as to the manner the duties of the chair have been discharged the present session: - The respected source to whence it proceeded adds not a little to its value. If I have been enabled satisfactorily to discharge the duties of this highly responsible and important station it must be attributed to your kind and constant aid, for which you have my sincere and grateful thanks. In reviewing our labors - in looking back upon the business of the session we perceive there has been much of interest and importance as well of a local as of a general nature, all of which I am happy to say, has been disposed of as I believe with fidelity and as much dispatch as was consistent with a proper investigation of the same and in a spirit of unusual harmony and good feeling. And, now, Gentlemen, having disposed of the business presented for our consideration and about to separate, allow me to tender you my best wishes for your prosperity and happiness. On your return to your families, friends and constituents, may you meet the smiles of approbation - the reward of faithful public services and may the blessings of heaven constantly attend you.
